Giggabox is a global event production agency creating and organising corporate events, conferences, and professional events on a global scale. At COP27, they facilitated the Resilience Hub events for their client, Global Resilience Partnership.
The Global Resilience Partnership advances resilience through identifying and scaling on-the-ground innovation, generating and sharing knowledge, and shaping policy. The key for the Resilience Hub at Sharm El Sheikh was inclusivity. Global Resilience Partnership wanted all attendees, regardless of their location (in-person or online) or language, to have an inclusive experience.
Giggabox deployed their most resilient live streaming and virtual event technology for this Resilience Hub and turned to Interprefy to enable language access for all in-person and virtual attendees.
The way the hub was set up as well as the hybrid nature of the event, with in-person and remote attendees, meant that a traditional approach to simultaneous interpretation with interpreting booths and interpreters on site wasn't an option.
Thanks to Giggabox' extensive experience in hybrid events and the scalability of Interprefy's remote interpretation technology, that challenge was quickly overcome.
At COP26 there were attendees from over 100 countries so there is a clear need for the content to be translated, to be understood by people from all these different countries. - Rory Forder, Marketing Executive at Giggabox

Giggabox turned to Inteprefy to provide its remote simultaneous interpretation technology and services. Before the event, Interprefy project management and the Giggabox team liaised to make sure everything was set up correctly for the event.
During the event, the sessions were streamed into Interprefy's remote simultaneous interpretation platform where the interpreters were connected. Interprefy rendered their interpretation back to all attendees while the Interprefy remote support team ensured everything worked smoothly on the interpreting side of things. On-site attendees listened to interpretation via the Interprefy mobile app and online attendees could follow the content in their preferred languages directly on the Vvenues platform.
Our aim was to create the best experience for the attendees, both in person and remote. Rory explained

Hundreds of participants, both in-person and remote, could follow the sessions in English, Spanish, Swahili, French and Portuguese.
The Giggabox team could easily add languages to the event just by using laptops and plenty of venue space was also freed up thanks to having interpreters working remotely.
We felt very happy with our line of communication with Interprefy throughout COP27. They played a fundamental role in our client’s goal of inclusivity. Providing exceptional translation solutions which truly enhanced the attendee experience of COP27. Rory concluded
