Overview
Decoding The Future of Women is the UK’s flagship Women’s HealthTech conference organised by FemTech Lab. During the 2-day event over 500 attendees discovered cutting-edge innovations and trends defining the future for Women and met the visionary innovators, scientists and entrepreneurs who are making it happen.
The Challenge
Ensuring everyone fully followed the panel discussions
FemTech Lab aimed to bring a new multimedia experience to their in-person event. Despite having a diverse international audience and proficient English-speaking panelists, the goal was to ensure that everyone could fully comprehend and engage with crucial information like statistics, technologies, and advancements.
Moreover, with conferences simultaneously held in two separate rooms with varying capacities, it posed a challenge to guarantee that all attendees could be accommodated inside.
The Approach
Audio and text to reinforce comprehension
FemTech Lab provided automatic captions in English, allowing attendees to follow along with the discussions in real-time during the event. This not only enhanced comprehension but also boosted engagement. The English captions were easily accessible on screens positioned on either side of the stage. Additionally, attendees had the option to read and listen to AI speech translation in French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese on their mobile devices through the Interprefy mobile app.
"Most of our audience was English speaking but we had speakers from around the globe. We found that having captions was very helpful especially with speakers with different accent and to ensure no matter what was happening in the auditorium, like background noises, you could follow and understand." - Kate Nikityuk, Event Producer and Program Coordinator"
The Outcome
A new layer of multimedia engagement
Over 19 panel discussions could be followed in the original English audio, but also through English captions on the screens placed next to the stage.
"Captions really helped to get the meaning of the speech, they were really helpful. It's easier to see a number on the screen than trying to hear it and process it.", Kate concludes.
Additionally, each conference room featured QR codes for seamless access to AI speech translation and captions on the Interprefy mobile app in French, Spanish, or Portuguese. This allowed attendees to engage with their preferred conference in their chosen language, receiving both audio and text directly on their mobile devices. This feature proved invaluable, especially when rooms reached capacity, ensuring that no one missed out on valuable information, even from outside the conference room.
