The World Association of Chefs' Societies (WACS), is a global network of chefs associations. During this is a four-day event featuring industry 4,000 chefs and leaders in food and beverage from 105 countries, Interprefy provided flexibility and was able to source conference-level EU language interpreters, who are typically hard to identify in Malaysia.
- Valentini Amarantidou, Director of Development at ARTION Conferences & Events
The events team at WACS and its appointed PCO, ARTION Conferences & Events, wanted to invest in a high-level interpretation. The organization had taken a conservative approach in the past, but had identified a number of challenges with a traditional set-up.
The issues the team had identified were that interpreters with the correct language combination and who were well versed in the culinary industry were hard to come by. To look further afield was expensive, as flights and accommodation for interpreters needed to be accounted for. Secondly was space. The team had found that the large booths for interpreters were inconvenient. A third driver was cost. Over-provisioning radio headsets had been a source of frustration, but with a traditional set-up there was no way around this.
Interprefy was able to source EU-conference level interpreters for the four-day event. Such interpreters would have been very hard, if not impossible, to identify in Malaysia. Interprefy's team was directly involved in sourcing these specialists.
Taking an innovative approach, Interprefy recommended that WACS abandons its traditional set-up and instead opts for an app-based solution whereby delegates listed to simultaneous interpreting through their smart devices or laptops.
The result was a highly satisfied customer who benefitted from substantial cost-savings. WACS received overwhelmingly positive feedback on the tech solution as well as praise for the level of the interpreters.
WACS saved significantly on travelling costs, space and got the desired high-level interpreting, with some of the best interpreters in the world providing interpreter services.
