As of today, we at Interprefy are proud to announce that we are officially ISO 27001-certified for all security processes.
As a global leader in providing real-time language interpretation, our platform has been built from the ground up with scalability, reliability, and security at its core. To provide a platform for the world's most important conversations, it is vital that our customers have full confidence in our ability to responsibly store and process any data and information they trust us with.
The certification was led by Interprefy's own Information Security Officer Dejan Ljubanic and involved a rigorous internal audit, and an external audit by an independent certification body, and we’re immensely proud of the dedication and hard work of our staff to get us to this point.
While undergoing the certification, it was confirmed by the auditors that we implemented security practices and processes in accordance with ISO 27001 standard requirements, without nonconformities (minor or major).
With ISO 27001, Interprefy has gained an important certification that reflects our commitment to keeping and processing customer information following principles of protecting confidentiality, availability, and integrity of information. We’re confident that gaining the certification will reassure our customers that we follow security best practices and our dedication to maintaining their trust.
To celebrate, we sat down with Interprefy’s Information Security Officer, Dejan Ljubanic, to talk about the value the certification brings to Interprefy's customers and their multilingual events.
What is ISO 27001?
ISO 27001 is the international standard for information security. The process involves auditing how businesses manage the risk associated with information security threats, including workplace policies, preventative procedures, and staff training.
The certification essentially shows that a company adheres to certain security requirements that allow it to efficiently store data such as financial information, employee details or information entrusted by third parties.
ISO 27001 certification is not obligatory, and only the companies that really take security seriously tend to achieve it, so it’s important that the safeguarding processes we’ve had in place since our inception have been recognised. Important in respect to our customers so that we can provide peace of mind for them, but also so that we can say Interprefy is one of the first in the interpretation technology industry to achieve this certification.
What does ISO 27001 provide for Interprefy?
Gaining official ISO 27001 compliance status is a long journey, but we decided to start the process back in 2020 because we wanted to provide our customers with the peace of mind that Interprefy has always been committed to protecting their data and keeping events secure.
ISO 27001 is a globally recognised certification, which will bring increased business opportunities for Interprefy as we remain one of a few organisations in our industry to hold it at this point.
Aside from the obvious security benefits, it will allow us to build more trust with our customers because we can prove that we have been responsibly handling and storing customer data and will continue to do so in the future. Trust is everything in our industry, so to be able to officially say that we have been providing secure services for our customers is the cherry at the top of the cake.
Information security has been a key focus for a long time, especially for large international and governmental organisations, but we are increasingly seeing also smaller customer organisations prioritise the safeguarding of information. We are incredibly proud to be able to assure organisations of all shapes and sizes that this is the case when they work with us.
How do Interprefy customers benefit from ISO 27001?
Although achieving ISO 27001 was more to validate that we already had the right and proper security processes in place, the certification will enable Interprefy to reach new heights and deliver continued excellence for our customers.
ISO 27001 assures customers, partners and other stakeholders that Interprefy’s information security infrastructure meets the stringent expectations placed on companies in today’s digital world, including identifying potential risks and addressing them.
Important, as security threats are constantly growing, and we’re not just talking about ‘Zoom bombings’. Large-scale data breaches make the news almost every day, so it was important that we were able to communicate to our customers that we adhere to top security standards, confirmed by an independent body.
What’s next for Interprefy?
With ISO 27001, we can prove that we are one of the most secure remote simultaneous interpretation providers on the market today. But we’re not stopping there.
Interprefy is part of a wider industry group working on getting ISO standards in place for remote interpretation - not just security-focused, but more about mapping out standardised processes and applications for the entire industry.
The remote simultaneous interpretation market is still very young and has changed a lot in a small space of time. With new players and new technology entering the market almost every day, we believe it is important to set out and put in place guidelines that will help improve the way we all work.
We’re already speaking with a number of industry organisations and bodies to establish set standards and processes who are all keen to help us reach our collective aim in professionalising the remote interpretation industry.
